DR. JOY LIAO
I grew up in New Zealand and graduated from the University of New South Wales. I speak fluent Mandarin.
I enjoy all aspects of General Practice and have completed postgraduate certificates in paediatrics, mental health, sexual health, and travel medicine. I previously worked as an honorary GP at a headspace centre under Alfred Health, where I loved providing holistic care to young people in a team environment.
I currently hold a position at a sexual health clinic supported by Melbourne Sexual Health Centre.
Outside of clinical practice, I enjoy teaching. I have been a medical educator for doctors undergoing GP training and currently teach medical students from Monash University. I’m also involved with the University of Melbourne’s Safer Families Centre of Research Excellence, where I provide training to GP practices nationally to help them become more trauma-informed in supporting patients experiencing family violence.
